Mission

We strengthen collaboration among Native Americans* and regional organizations in order to increase understanding among all populations about the history and culture of Native peoples.

* The Alliance for Native Programs and Initiatives acknowledges that others may prefer different terms and that member organizations may work with other Indigenous groups.

ANPI is a regional resource and strives to:

  • Raise the visibility of Native American cultures and history;

  • Serve as a platform for the discussion of contemporary issues by providing content and context for discussion.

ANPI organizations work together to:

  • Increase public programs and partnerships that emphasize Native American contributions to the region and the nation at large;

  • Ensure efficiency in programming and marketing efforts;

  • Strengthen support, collaboration, and communication among member organizations and stakeholders;

ANPI organizations work with agencies and tribal communities to:

  • Support organizations interested in Native American issues and culture;

  • Serve as a resource for Native American activities across the scope of the participating members;

  • Coordinate with tribes and Native American organizations across the nation on initiatives.

About Our Logo

Our logo was designed by Abaki Beck (Blackfeet/Red River Metis), who also created this website. The logo is designed to be clean, modern, and resemble mounds. Indigenous peoples of this region created mounds for religious, burial, and residential purposes for thousands of years. The logo pays tribute to this history, their ingenuity, and the contemporary Indigenous communities in St Louis and beyond.
